Al Shaqab League: A Launchpad for Future Show Jumping Stars

Al Shaqab is set to resume the Al Shaqab National Showjumping League, with the competition returning this month through three consecutive weeks of thrilling rounds. Taking place at the world-class Longines Arena at Al Shaqab, the league will gather a distinguished group of experienced and emerging male and female riders on the following dates: May 16–17, May 23–24, and May 30–31, 2025.

Aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, Al Shaqab continues its pioneering role in advancing sports and promoting a culture of excellence and innovation in equestrianism through the launch of a new edition of its national show jumping league.

Over recent seasons, the Al Shaqab League has become a cornerstone of Qatar’s equestrian development, serving as a strategic platform for refining skills, nurturing young talent, and setting new benchmarks in show jumping. It has emerged as a key milestone for aspiring riders aiming to make the transition to international competition.

The league offers a unique blend of high-level competition and consistent training, helping riders gain critical experience in a world-class environment. With each round delivering fierce rivalries and technical challenges, Al Shaqab has proven its ability to cultivate talent capable of earning global recognition.

A core part of Al Shaqab’s mission is rooted in diversity and inclusion. The league places strong emphasis on equal opportunity, with a particular focus on empowering youth riders and female athletes—ensuring all participants compete in a fair, supportive, and high-performance environment.

Participation is open to all members of the Al Shaqab Equestrian Academy as well as external riders, reflecting a broad commitment to community engagement and equestrian growth.

All competition categories adhere to FEI (Fédération Équestre Internationale) regulations, with the exception of introductory training classes designed to support developing riders.

Training Classes: Introductory 1 (40cm), Introductory 2 (60cm), Introductory 3 (80cm)

Main Competition: Amateur (90cm), Future Champions (105cm), Junior Champions (115cm), Youth Champions (125cm), Al Shaqab Champions (130cm)


The Al Shaqab League operates on a point-based system throughout the season, with top-performing riders recognized at its conclusion, adding a layer of prestige, consistency, and excitement to every round.

Spectators can expect a lively sporting atmosphere at each event, alongside a range of family-friendly activities, exclusive hospitality, and gourmet food offerings, creating a memorable experience that celebrates both community and competition.
