Qatar’s top squash player, Abdulla Al Tamimi, secured a silver medal at the 23rd Asian Individual Squash Championships, held over a week in Malaysia. His impressive run saw him reach the final, where he faced Hong Kong’s Alex Lau in a tightly contested match.

Despite falling in straight sets—12-14, 11-13, 9-11—Al Tamimi showcased resilience and skill, pushing each game to the limit. His journey began with a 3-1 victory over South Korea’s Jooyoung Na in the opening round, which propelled him into the quarterfinals and ultimately the championship match.

Reflecting on the achievement, Al Tamimi expressed pride in reaching the final of such a prestigious continental event, calling it a major milestone in his career. He emphasized the personal significance of winning his first silver medal on this stage, describing it as a key step in his athletic progression.

“Competing in finals like these is never easy,” he said. “But every match brings lessons, and I’m proud to represent Qatar among the best players in Asia.”
