Qatar’s Al Ahli are set for their AFC Champions League Two debut when they host Bahrain’s Al Khaldiya SC at Al Thumama Stadium today. Igor Biscan’s side earned their place in the second-tier Asian competition after finishing fourth in the Qatar Stars League last season, joining Group B alongside Uzbekistan’s FC Andijon and Turkmenistan’s FK Arkadag.
Despite a shaky start to the new domestic campaign with three straight losses, Al Ahli rediscovered their form by defeating Al Wakrah 5-3 over the weekend. Biscan expressed confidence in his squad, stressing the importance of starting strong against Al Khaldiya. With players like Sekou Yansane, Julian Draxler, Erik Exposito, and Driss Fettouhi in their ranks, Al Ahli will look to carry their renewed momentum into tonight’s 7pm kick-off.
