The Organizing Committee of the second edition of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Half Marathon and Team Qatar Activities 2026 has confirmed full organisational, logistical and technical readiness ahead of the event, during a press conference held at Lusail Hall at QOC headquarters.
The annual event will take place on 10 February 2026 as part of celebrations marking Qatar National Sports Day, featuring the half marathon, short-distance races and activities at the Team Qatar Village.
The press conference was attended by senior officials and partners, including Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani, Head of the Marketing Committee; Ahmed Al Jaber, Head of the Technical Committee; Maha Dahawi Al Shamari, Director of Communication and Public Relations at the Ministry of Labour; Abdulla Ibrahim Al Fakhroo of Qatar Diar; and Ahmad Hassan Al Mahasna of Qatar Development Bank.
Race Details
Ahmed Al Jaber outlined the technical programme, announcing a new race route for the 21km half marathon and 10km race, extending to the Qetaifan Islands Corniche with the finish line at Lusail Boulevard. The half marathon will begin at 6:00 a.m., followed by Ad’am Village activities at 7:00 a.m. Organisers confirmed comprehensive safety and medical measures, alongside prizes for winners.
The competition includes multiple age categories to encourage wide participation:
- 1km race for children aged 6–14
- 5km race for ages 15–17
- 5km, 10km and 21km races for adults aged 19–39 and 40+
- Dedicated Team Qatar categories for men and women are also included.
Team Qatar Village and Partners
Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani confirmed that marketing preparations are complete and praised the support of sponsors and partners in delivering medical, logistical and media services. Team Qatar Village at Al Sa’ad Plaza will host sports and entertainment activities in cooperation with national federations.
Key partners include Qatar Diar (Host Partner), ASICS Japan (Official Apparel Sponsor), the Ministry of Interior, Hamad Medical Corporation, and several gold sponsors, alongside strong volunteer participation.
Partner Support
Qatar Diar confirmed infrastructure and route security readiness, while the Ministry of Labour and Qatar Development Bank highlighted their ongoing partnership with QOC in supporting national sports initiatives. Rayyan Water, the event’s Official Hydration Partner, will supply water for participants throughout the race.
Volunteer Platform
Organisers also launched the Team Qatar Volunteers Platform, a permanent system to manage volunteers across major sporting events in Qatar, including upcoming regional and international tournaments. The platform will oversee field operations, logistics, participant services and safety support.
