Al Duhail 2–0 Al Waab

Al Duhail SC booked their place in the Amir Cup quarter-finals with a composed 2–0 victory over Al Waab SC at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium on Thursday night.

Adel Boulbina broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the 28th minute after Abdoulaye Bakayoko brought down an Al Duhail attacker inside the box. Calm and clinical, Boulbina stepped up and slotted home to give his side a deserved lead heading into the break.

Al Waab showed early intent, with Ousseynou Gueye testing goalkeeper Salah Zakaria inside seven minutes. After halftime, they nearly found a way back when Bahaa Faisal’s thunderous strike crashed against the crossbar in the 52nd minute.

But Al Duhail stayed disciplined — and lethal. Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek wrapped up the win in the 87th minute, finishing off the contest and sending his side safely into the last eight.

“We went into the match determined to win and reach the quarter-finals, given the importance of this tournament,” said Boulbina. “In these games, the key is getting the result, and we did that. The season is still long, and our focus remains on the Amir Cup and the AFC Champions League.”

Al Duhail will now face the winner of the Al Arabi SC vs Al Shahania SC clash at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium in the quarter-finals.

Al Wakrah 2–0 Al Sailiya

Al Wakrah SC followed suit with a confident 2–0 triumph over Al Sailiya SC.

After a tense first half, Omar Salah capitalised on a defensive lapse in the 58th minute to break the deadlock. Redouane Berkane then put the result beyond doubt five minutes from time, sealing a professional performance and a well-earned progression.

Al Wakrah now await the winner of the showdown between Al Rayyan SC and Al Khor SC, set to take place at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium on Saturday.

With both sides showing composure and hunger, the Amir Cup quarter-finals promise high drama as Qatar’s heavyweights continue their pursuit of silverware.
