The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) has confirmed that tickets are now available for the Qatari national team’s upcoming fixtures in the second window of the Asian Qualifiers for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Qatar will take on India on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Lusail Multipurpose Hall, with the tournament hosts aiming to strengthen their position in Group D. The national team will then face regional rivals Saudi Arabia on Monday, March 2, in another decisive encounter in the same qualifying round.
Both matches are expected to attract strong fan support given the crucial points at stake as the race for qualification intensifies.
Heading into the second window, Qatar sit second in Group D with three points, level with Lebanon and just one point behind leaders Saudi Arabia, who top the standings with four points. India are currently fourth with two points, making the upcoming clashes pivotal for all sides involved.
In preparation for the decisive fixtures, Qatar completed an overseas training camp in Turkey under the supervision of QBF Secretary-General and Director of National Teams Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari. The camp was designed to provide optimal conditions for both technical and physical development ahead of the qualifiers.
Led by head coach Hakan Demir, the technical staff implemented an intensive program featuring daily training sessions focused on tactical refinement, expanding offensive and defensive options, elevating fitness levels, and strengthening team chemistry. The preparations ensured the squad returned to Doha in peak condition ahead of the two crucial encounters.
The Asian and Oceanian qualifying campaign includes 16 teams divided into four groups. The top three teams from each group will progress to the second round, where they will be reorganized into two new groups. From there, three teams from each group will secure direct qualification to the World Cup finals, alongside the best fourth-placed team overall.
The qualification process unfolds across six windows running through March 2027, as per the schedule approved by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), providing teams with structured preparation periods and maintaining a high competitive standard throughout the campaign.
