Al Sadd continued their dominant run in the Doha Bank Stars League with a 3-1 comeback victory over Al Duhail, while Al Gharafa edged Al Rayyan 3-2 in a thrilling Round 17 clash on Thursday night.
Al Sadd 3-1 Al Duhail
At the Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium, the defending champions secured their 10th consecutive league win to strengthen their grip at the top of the table with 38 points.
Edmilson Junior fired Al Duhail ahead in the 47th minute, but the momentum quickly shifted. An own goal by Yousef Ayman (52’) brought Al Sadd level before Rafa Mujica (54’) completed the turnaround just two minutes later. Giovani Henrique sealed the victory in the 83rd minute after a precise assist from Akram Afif.
Al Duhail remain on 21 points following the defeat.
Al Gharafa 3-2 Al Rayyan
At the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium, Al Gharafa produced a spirited performance to claim three crucial points and move into second place with 34 points, while Al Rayyan stay fourth on 28.
Rodrigo Moreno opened the scoring early for Al Rayyan (4’), finishing off a pass from Aleksandar Mitrovic. After the break, Ferjani Sassi (57’) leveled for Al Gharafa before Amro Surag (61’) gave them the lead.
Joselu extended the advantage in the 84th minute, but late drama followed as Roger Guedes converted a stoppage-time penalty (90+1’). Al Gharafa held firm despite heavy pressure and a late red card shown to Saifeldeen Fadlalla (90+12’).
