Jannik Sinner won the Indian Wells title after beating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets, becoming the youngest player to collect all the biggest hard-court trophies in men’s tennis. The Italian defeated the Russian 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-4) in a tight match played in very hot conditions in California.

Sinner, who is ranked world number two, served extremely well throughout the match. Medvedev did not get a single break point chance, and Sinner lost only a few points on his first serve. The victory gave the 24-year-old his first title of the year and the 25th of his career.

During the tournament, Sinner did not lose a single set. With this win, he has now claimed every major hard-court title in tennis. His achievements include the Australian Open titles in 2024 and 2025, the US Open in 2024, the ATP Finals, and all six Masters 1000 tournaments played on hard courts: Miami, Toronto, Cincinnati, Shanghai, Paris, and now Indian Wells.

Only two other players in history — Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer — have managed the same accomplishment.

The final against Medvedev was very close. Both sets were decided by tie-breaks. In the second tie-break, Medvedev took an early 4-0 lead and looked close to forcing a third set. However, Sinner stayed calm and won seven straight points to finish the match.

This result also continues Sinner’s strong record against Medvedev. He has now won nine of their last ten matches.

Even though Medvedev lost the final, he will move back into the world’s top 10 in the updated rankings. The Russian had an impressive run at the tournament, including a strong semi-final win over world number one Carlos Alcaraz.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic has pulled out of the Miami Open this week because of a right shoulder injury. The Serbian star has won the tournament six times in the past but will not compete this year.
