The Board of Trustees of the Qatar Football Association Awards has announced the winners of the 2025–2026 season honours during the official end-of-season ceremony, held in the presence of federation officials, representatives from the Qatar Stars League, club delegations, coaches, and players.
The highlight of the evening went to Akram Afif of Al Sadd SC, who was crowned Best Player of the Season for a record sixth time and third consecutive year. He finished ahead of strong contenders including Roger Guedes of Al Rayyan SC and Baghdad Bounedjah of Al Shamal SC.
Afif expressed his pride at retaining the prestigious award, crediting his teammates, coaching staff, and club management for their continuous support. He described the recognition as a strong motivation to keep striving for more success with both club and country.
“Winning this award again is a great honour. It pushes me to keep working with my teammates to achieve more titles,” Afif said, adding that his focus is now on representing Qatar strongly at the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Afif played a key role in Al Sadd’s successful season, helping them secure the 2025–2026 league title and finish runners-up in the Emir Cup, while also continuing his influential performances with the national team.
In the coaching category, Spanish coach David Prats of Al Shamal was named Best Coach of the Season after a strong campaign that saw his team come close to a historic league title challenge and secure qualification for the AFC Champions League Elite 2026–27.
The Best Scorer award, named after Mansour Muftah, went to Roger Guedes, who netted 21 goals for Al Rayyan in the league, finishing the season as the competition’s top marksman.
Al Rayyan’s Mahmoud Abunada was named Best Goalkeeper of the Season, ahead of Jassim Al Hail and Mishaal Barsham, while Ayoub Alawi of Al Gharafa claimed the Best Under-23 Player award after an impressive campaign for both club and country.
The ceremony also honoured the “Football for All” initiative, the Best Refereeing Team of the Season, and the Best Fan Stand, awarded to Al Sadd supporters for their outstanding atmosphere and support throughout the campaign.
Winners in the major categories were decided through a structured voting process overseen by the QFA Awards Board, involving coaches, technical staff, media representatives, and football stakeholders, ensuring a comprehensive and fair selection for the season’s top honours.
