Qatar’s Ali Al-Obaidli secured the silver medal in the individual 10-ball billiards competition at the 4th GCC Games Doha 2026, after a hard-fought final loss to Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Babad.

The final, held in Doha, ended 7–5 in favor of Babad, denying Al-Obaidli the gold but confirming a strong tournament performance from the Qatari player.

Al-Obaidli reached the final after an impressive 7–2 victory over UAE’s Mahmoud Sharif in the semifinals. On the other side of the draw, Babad advanced by defeating Kuwait’s Suleiman Ghulam, also by a 7–2 margin.

The 10-ball singles competition featured 10 players representing five GCC nations: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, with each country fielding two competitors.

The billiards and snooker events at the GCC Games continue to attract wide regional participation, with 1,400 athletes competing across 17 sports. The cue sports programme includes multiple disciplines such as 10-ball, 9-ball, singles, doubles, team billiards, and several snooker formats.

Despite missing out on gold, Al-Obaidli’s silver medal adds to Qatar’s growing medal tally at the Games and highlights the country’s strong presence in cue sports.
