Qatar’s national shooters won seven medals (3 gold, 4 silver) in the trap and 10m air pistol competitions held at the Lusail Shooting Range Complex, as part of the ongoing Gulf Games in Doha, which conclude this Friday.
The three gold medals for Qatar came as follows:
In the men’s trap team event, the Qatari trio of Mohammed Al-Rumaihi, Angelo Scalzone, and Saeed Abu Sharab secured gold after finishing first with a total of 354 targets. Kuwait took silver with 344 targets, while the UAE earned bronze with 341.
In the women’s 10m air pistol individual event, Duaa Habib won gold after topping the standings with 231.2 points. UAE’s Ghalia Al Shehhi took silver, while Bahrain’s Aisha Al Buraiki claimed bronze.
Qatar’s third gold came in the women’s 10m air pistol team event, where Duaa Habib, Aisha Al Abdullah, and Salma Al Maas finished first with 1669 points. Bahrain took silver and the UAE earned bronze.
Qatar’s four silver medals were achieved across multiple events:
In the women’s trap team event, Qatar (Metha Al-Binali, Khulood Al-Khalaf, and Ray Bassil) finished second with 310 targets behind Kuwait, who won gold with 320, while Bahrain took bronze.
In the men’s trap individual final, Mohammed Al-Rumaihi secured silver, with Kuwait’s Abdulrahman Al-Feihan winning gold and the UAE’s Yahya Al-Muhairi taking bronze.
In the women’s trap individual event, Metha Al-Binali also won silver, while Kuwait’s Shahd Al-Hawwal took gold and Bahrain’s Marwa Bouarki earned bronze.
In the men’s 10m air pistol team event, the Qatari trio of Khalid Al-Sheiba, Nasser Al-Sanaij, and Mohammed Al-Yafie claimed silver with 1679 points. Saudi Arabia won gold and Oman took bronze.
With these results, Qatar’s shooting team has raised its total medal tally at the Gulf Games to 18 medals: 8 gold, 5 silver, and 5 bronze.
Competition concludes tomorrow (Wednesday) with the mixed trap team and mixed 10m air pistol events, followed by the finals and medal ceremonies.
