Al Shamal coach David Prats has underlined the importance of securing all three points as his side prepares to face Al Sailiya in Week 9 of the 2026-2027 Doha Bank Stars League.
Speaking to the media ahead of the encounter, Prats acknowledged the challenge posed by Al Sailiya, stressing that their position in the league standings should not be taken as a reflection of their quality.
“We anticipate a difficult challenge against a strong side that features high-calibre players.
“Although Al Sailiya’s current position in the league standings may not be high, we hold them in great regard and recognize their quality. Therefore, we must exercise extreme caution when facing them.
“We need to play with intensity and focus on the finer details to ensure we perform as expected and translate our solid displays into a positive result,” said Prats.
Al Shamal player Abdullah Al Ahrak also highlighted the significance of the fixture, with the team determined to return to winning ways after a recent spell without a victory.
“We fully grasp the importance of this game and the necessity of securing a win and all three points, as we look to get back to winning ways following a recent dry spell,” said Al Ahrak.
He also acknowledged the quality of their opponents and emphasised the need for concentration throughout the match.
“Al Sailiya are a major club with exceptional players and facing them is always a tough task. We must remain focused from the very first minute until the final whistle to achieve our objective – securing the victory,” he added.
With both sides eager to collect valuable points, Al Shamal will be aiming to turn their recent performances into a victory, while maintaining the intensity and discipline Prats has called for against a determined Al Sailiya side.
