The Qatar Athletics Federation (QAF) has officially unveiled its detailed plans for the highly anticipated 2025 Doha Meeting—marking the third stop on this year’s Diamond League calendar.
Set to take place tomorrow at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium, the event will feature 128 world-class athletes, including 45 medallists from the Olympics and World Championships.
Speaking at the official press conference, QAF President and Organising Committee Chair, Mohammed Issa Al-Fadala, highlighted the event’s growing significance.
“Our entire team has worked tirelessly to ensure this year’s Jetour Doha Meeting lives up to its reputation and continues to showcase Qatar’s excellence in hosting world-class sporting events. Everything is in place for a memorable meet,” said Al-Fadala.
In a first for the competition, a $5,000 bonus will be awarded to any athlete who breaks a record in their discipline—adding extra incentive to the already impressive $9.24 million prize pool distributed throughout the Diamond League season.
“The strong turnout of Olympic and World Champions reflects the athletes’ desire to compete at the highest level,” Al-Fadala noted. He added that many will be using the event to assess their form ahead of the World Championships set for Tokyo this September.
This year’s meet stands out with the inclusion of four major competitions taking place simultaneously: the Doha Meeting, the West Asia One-Day Championship, the National Teams Championship, and the Schools Championship.
“It’s going to be an extraordinary day of athletics,” Al-Fadala added.
Essa Al-Harami, QAF Secretary General and Tournament Director, echoed that sentiment, noting the depth of talent on display.
“Having 45 Olympic and World medallists competing speaks volumes about the calibre of this event. We’re expecting a level of competition unlike anything seen before,” said Al-Harami.
Sustainability is also a central theme this year. Sheikha Al-Sahli, Chair of the Sustainability Committee, said their recent certification has raised the bar.
“Achieving sustainability certification means we have an even greater responsibility to meet international benchmarks,” she said.
Key green initiatives include tree planting, electric vehicle use, and the recycling of 50,000 plastic bottles.
Salah Al-Saadi, Chair of the Venues and Operations Committee, confirmed that Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium is fully prepped for the occasion.
“We’ve made sure every aspect—from athlete facilities to security and fan experiences—is ready to go,” said Al-Saadi.
