The Wanda Diamond League meeting in Doha has been postponed by six weeks and will now take place on June 19, organizers confirmed on Wednesday.

Originally scheduled for May 8 as the season’s opening leg, the event was delayed due to recent regional disturbances, with officials citing safety concerns for both athletes and spectators.

In addition to the new date, the venue has been shifted from Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium to Khalifa International Stadium, a world-class facility that previously hosted the 2019 World Athletics Championships.

The Diamond League remains one of athletics’ premier global circuits, featuring 15 meetings across 13 countries and four continents. Following the change, the season will now kick off in Shanghai on May 16.

The decision comes amid wider disruptions to the regional sporting calendar, with several major events affected, including the cancellation of Formula 1 races in Bahrain and Jeddah.
